Chapter 7: Which way to go?
I had been thinking of tackling fugues as my next area of exercise.
But I am having second thoughts about this . . .
Chapter 6: Canons
I am not sure why Canons popped into my mind as the next project for me to tackle.
Now that I have spent around 6 weeks visiting as I like to tell myself the Country of Canons I am happy to admit that it was a great time for me. I will be happy to visit again in the future! -:)
In many ways it was an eye opening journey for me
Chapter 5: A surprise 3 voice polyphony composition
After the 2 voice polyphony it seemed natural to look into the 3 voice polyphony topic. So I started from scratch as I always do with a melodic fragment. In this case I chose a one bar idea.
Chapter 4: An Intermezzo, polyphony for 2 voices
I checked with Google which told me that “Polyphony for 2 voices means that 2 distinct, independent melodies are played at the same time”.
Chapter 3: What resonates more in you melody or harmony?
It took many years before I accidentally met other classical music composers. One of them, Tobias Braun, I met because he played the piano for a Trio I had written.
Chapter 2: How I compose
I work in steps. First, I collect melodic ideas and when I record them I assign them to an instrument, maybe a flute or a cello.
